The Pink Tower represents our growing Annual Giving.
The Annual Giving Campaign is a yearly appeal for gifts to support our operating budget.
We maintain an intentional gap between the cost of tuition and the actual cost of educating each student. Our dedication to moderate tuitions and providing quality Montessori education to as many as possible is part of our original school charter.
The gap is filled each year by gifts from current parents, past parents, alumni, staff, grandparents, students and friends. Each current family is expected to participate in Annual Giving at a level that is as generous as financial circumstances allow -- every dollar counts. And every gift inspires others to give. We strive for 100% participation.
Annual Giving runs concurrent with our fiscal year, July 1st through June 30th and donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
The Robert W. Jackson Endowment Fund
Our Endowment is over one million dollars and exists thanks to the faith and generosity of many. A healthy Endowment positions The Montessori School to sustain a level of financial strength and flexibility both currently and in the future. It is a cornerstone of our financial strength and long-term well being. Annual income from investment of our Endowment feeds our annual operating budget. In addition, an ever-increasing corpus helps ensure the long-term financial viability of our school.
Named in memory of beloved Montessori teacher and philanthropist Bob Jackson, the long-term goal of Endowment is to support 10% of The Montessori School's annual operating budget. Endowment income directly supports areas that are vital to the health of our school: Program, Staffing, and Tuition Assistance to name a few. The investment of the Endowment Fund is overseen by an Investment Committee, a subcommittee of our school's Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees. The Endowment Fund is managed with a long-term goal of maintaining generational neutrality, thereby ensuring that current and future generations of students benefit equally from Endowment.
We welcome the opportunity to speak with those interested in making a contribution. Please click here to contact our Development Director for further information.
Endowment funds are currently raised through the generosity of ...
- Outright donations to Endowment
- Proceeds from the sale of engraved Labyrinth Bricks - Please click here to order.
- Allocations by the Board of Trustees during years when over achievement of fundraiser goals results in an operating budget surplus.
Beyond supporting our school through Annual Giving and Endowment, there are currently two established funds for making restricted gifts:
Mary Tidball Zeman Staff Development Fund
The Staff Development fund is supported through the annual operating budget and augmented by gifts of individual donors. The Montessori School supports every staff member's continued professional development and is proud of the culture of professional aspiration and support that exists among all members of our staff. This fund exists to assure and inspire ongoing conferences, workshops, consultations, classes, cultural encounters and professional memberships.
Ramani DeAlwis Scholarship Fund
The Tuition Assistance Fund is supported by our annual operating budget. Donors contribute funds specifically to scholarship aid for students in our Elementary program through our Ramani DeAlwis Scholarship Fund. As an endowed fund, the principal is never touched. A portion of investment return is used to support need and merit-based tuition assistance for The Montessori School Elementary students.
From time to time, The Montessori School engages in special campaigns to raise funds for a specific purpose. Currently we are not in a campaign season, and welcome support through Annual Giving and Endowment.
